I love my church …

Here’s what some of our members said!

I felt called to serve this church over 10 years ago. Today, I look back and see how God has used me in ways I would not have expected. I love this church because of the people and have been blessed many many times by this church family. This church is a loving community that is on a journey to be led more and more by the Holy Spirit. We seek to know God, to follow Jesus with all of our hearts and to love our neighbour as ourselves. ~ Marijke

When our family moved to Guelph over 30 years ago, we became members of First CRC (now Water Street Church). We were warmly welcomed into the homes of members, and we did so in return, getting to know one another on a deeper personal level.
There have been times when discussion about the role of women in office, participation of children in communion, and preferences for style of music created tension in our church community. And yes, this brings pain to the body of Christ. It is in these situations that we, through the Holy Spirit, grow to encourage, love and walk along side.
As the family of God, we have been blessed with many gifts, and are continually learning how to use them in service to Him and one another. We are a caring and giving people, not only to ourselves but to those in our community and the world. We do this with joy and thanksgiving to God, for He is ever faithful!
Being the church of Jesus Christ in times of change has its challenges, but as long as we are faithful to His word, pray for wisdom, love one another, we will continue to grow. We have unshakable hope and the assurance that God will hold us fast.
My father said a number of years ago “I don’t always agree with everything the church decides, but I will never leave it.”
I love my church family on Water Street, and when we are able to meet again under more normal circumstances, look forward to attend for a few more years, the Lord willing! I miss the hearing of our voices raised in Praise to our God! And how we love to sing! ~ Henny
